since 1993

There is the proverbial saying,
“Hindsight is 20/20”- a back mirror look at our distant past.

Sights-n-Venture Tours were started in 1993 on the back of Perth and Western Australia (W.A.). Through a mix and match approach to organising tailor made educational field trips for overseas educational institutions and schools, we created the education-tourism products and services highlighted in this section.

For example, the overseas teachers and their students experienced Australia’s indigenous culture on site where the tour guide explained the significance of the Mia and Balga (grass tree) to the Nyoongar people before approaching the gathering area. A demonstration of bush glue making, string making and fire lighting was followed by voluntary participation in glue making to make a ‘taap’ (serrated-edged bush knife).

Or, for a theme on pastoral care, field trips to local school(s) that adopted formal pastoral care programmes were matched with and organised for the overseas counterpart. The foreign teachers and students observed how the pastoral care programmes were run in W.A. and also had the opportunity to interact with the Australians.

Another theme inclusion would be the popular Torchlight Cave Tour in Yallingup. Yallingup Cave is the first cave to open to the public in Western Australia. It is one of the few caves in the South to be associated with Aboriginal legend. Torchlight tours are fully guided. The guides met the school visitors at a covered outdoor area and an overview of the caves in the area was provided. The guide then escorted them into the cave and provided further information. The majority of the tour was conducted under torch-light, hence a real feeling of caving was achieved. Upon reaching the final cavern, all the lights were turned on to view the beauty of the main chamber.
